Ornella Weston - Vice President

Ornella Weston

As Vice President I am responsible for publicity and helping out wherever I am needed. I assist Steve in his role as President. I have a degree in Business and Marketing, with an honours degree in motherhood/taxi driver. I also convinced my husband Stu to take on the role of webmaster. My eldest son, Ryan, started swimming with Peta when he was 6 and I can’t wait for the other three to turn 6 so we get no sleep ins at all! We wanted to be involved with the club to support Ryan and to help Riverton Blue Marlins grow as a healthy swimming club.

Ann Blaxill - Treasurer

Ann Blaxill

As treasurer I am responsible for ensuring monies are collected and accounts paid in a timely manner. Registration and Club Fees, together with meet entry monies comprise the largest portion of income and expenses. At each committee meeting I present a statement of our financial position to the committee and answer any questions from members regarding monies held.

With the Club now having a number of swimmers attend interstate meets on a regular basis (ie Gold Coast, Victorian States and Age Nationals) my role has also entailed preparing budgets for these trips.

As an incorporated body and as part of the Swimming WA guidelines the financial records of the Club must be audited by an independent auditor each year and a copy provided to SWA.

With 27 years of Banking experience and holding degrees in Economics and Commerce I look forward to maintaining the financial records of the Club and exploring innovative ways to raise funds to assist the Club achieve its goals.

Karen Stubberfield - Secretary

As Secretary I am responsible for recording and distributing the clubs correspondence as well as compiling and distributing Agenda’s and Minutes for each committee meeting. The secretarys role also includes being familiar with the clubs constitution and bylaws.

I have three daughters swimming at Riverton with Peta - Amy (12), Grace (10), and Holly (8). My eldest child Liam (14) has an aversion to anything involving swimming laps. Tennis and Aussie Rules are more his thing. I love being involved in the childrens activities and have seen the girls swimming develop under Peta’s guidance over the last two years.

Carolyn Bodey - Registrar

Carolyn Bodey

Carolyn has been involved with competitive swimming (as a parent and a Registrar) for the last 6 years and whilst not being afraid of the water herself, does wait for a 38 degree plus day before she gets her toes wet. She has three children: Liam, Dylan and Lara all swimming at Riverton under Peta. Peta has coached them all at one time or another before Riverton Blue Marlins. Her husband Stuart is often seen around the pool and at Challenge Stadium also. Her background is administration/bookkeeping and is currently honing her driving skills, chauffeuring her children. She has a great desire to sleep in and age gracefully.

Maggie Osborne - Committee member - Uniforms

Maggie Osborne

As uniforms co-ordinator I have been responsible for the transition to our new colours and club shirt. Swimming WA recently approved the change in our colours to Blue, Silver and White. Most swimmers are now wearing our ‘Go Fast’ silver and blue caps and our new polo shirt is in the final stages of design with a release date hopefully in mid October. I also have responsibility for purchasing swimming equipment which saw the recent acquisition of snorkels for the swim squad where I have now acquired the nick name of ‘Snorkel Girl’.

Just like my other early rising sleep deprived colleagues on the committee, I became involved with swimming to support my two great boys who have been swimming competitively with Peta for the past few years, Jack and Harley.

Mark Foster

I have a boy, Luke 10 years old who has been swimming competitively for just over three years and a girl Laura, soon to be 7, who has just started squad training. Through my desire to support them and be involved in their activities, I found my way to a meeting and became a committee member with the heading “Special Events”. Although I have moved on now, I spent about 15 years in the corporate event industry, which I hope will assist in my current position within the club. I assist and help organise fund raising endeavours and social events.  I am also gaining accreditation with Swimming WA to cover all aspects of officiating at SWA swim meets, plus make it easier for us to hold our own club time trials with the times being recognised by SWA.

Stu Weston - Committee member - Website

Stu Weston

Along with my vice-presidential wife Ornella, I am committed to help RBM become a healthy and successful environment for young aspiring swimmers. As I love early mornings, I was very excited to learn that swim training occured before the sun came up and that I have the possibility of watching the sunrise every morning in the not too distant future. I have offered my limited skills in web design to enable the club to have a dynamic website to enhance communication for all RBM members. I also help out where required.
