Presidents Message
On behalf of the Riverton Blue Marlins Committee I would like to welcome you to our website. Please explore it and any comments you have will be gratefully received. Our primary reason for existence is to allow our members to swim competitively in WA swim meets at whatever level they can achieve. Our current membership ranges from 6 years old upwards, and includes several current State Champions and Record Holders. In February 2009 we won the B Division Premiership title and in November the inaugural SWA Club Sprint trophy. Our club members train at Riverton Leisureplex under the direction of Head Coach Peta Goodsell and Assistant Coach Carolyn Bodey. The Leisureplex Swim Program is itself highly active and caters for swimmers at all levels who swim recreationally rather than competitively.
Our club is active socially with events such as Club breakfasts and Time Trials, and helping at Bunnings Sausage Sizzles to raise funds. We aim to travel Interstate at least once a year for competition – in the past year teams have gone to the Gold Coast and Victoria – and in April 2009 we sent a team of 11 swimmers to the Australian Age National Championships in Sydney.
Swimming is a wonderful sport for kids to develop fitness, discipline, skills and at the same time have fun! If you are interested in joining please contact me or any Committee member.
Steve Walker
