RIVERTON JUNIORS ARE THE BEST IN THE STATE

Riverton Blue Marlins swimmers 12 years and under take a bow….you are the best swimmers in the State for 2010.

Riverton won the points competition by a clear 200 points from the next club Waneroo Breakers.

We had 28 swimmers and every swimmer contrinuted to this amazing result.

Go you guys…
Jaime Prescott, Oliver Trice, Misha Smith, Darian Murray, Emily Fetherston, Georgie Prescott, Carolin Muru, Jamie Heslop, Harley Osborne, Holly Stubberfield, Lara Bodey, Chien Yi Loo, Chelsea Lowman, Logan Bristow, Macey Bristow, Teisha Bristow, Hamish Blair, Lilli Hanna, Natalie Whittington, Jess Peters, Karis Rideout, Holly Morgan, Ebonee Hanna, Tahlia Agron, Serena McPherson, Alyssa Burgos, Francis Burgos, Kitty Andrews.

Your hard work and committment to swimming has paid off with some amazing results. 57 medals between 28 swimmers.

This is a reflection of how important our junior development programme is to our club’s future.  Almost every person named here started their swimming training in the 25m pool programme
on Monday and Thursday mornings.

It is very exciting to think we can resume suitable pathway training for our amazing junior swimmers in April at Trinity Pool. This means that our domination of junior swimming in Western Australia will be able to continue in the future.

I would like to take this opportunity to recognise the efforts in the past twelve months of Ryan Weston.  He is an outstanding talent who has swum his heart out for our club for 2009/2010. No one was more sad than me (except Ryan himself) to see him unable to complete his season due to a virus which prevented him from competing in States.

Ryan is destined for great things in swimming and this is a minor setback but his acceptance and positive attitude was to be admired. He took it well and still came along to support his teammate on Sunday when he knew she needed his support.

Thanks Ryan for your contribution to our club this season.

OPEN WATER RULES THE WAVES FOR FEBRUARY

Congratulations to

CARIS DEMPSTER

2nd Woman to Rottnest solo in 5 hours 10 minutes Caris is a tough competitor who gives her all to everything and in this her first solo Rottnest swim she came out swinging and finished with an incredible result. Watch out to our best Open Water Women in Western Australia and Australia as Caris gets serious in the next twelve months.

JENNIFER BLAXILL

6th 14 year old girl in Australia over 5km.  Jen competed in her first Open Water Nationals.  She raced hard and did well in very hot and hard conditions.  Again watch out the Open Water swimmers in Australia as Jen gains experience and confidence over the 5km. She is set to become extremely competitive over this distance and perhaps even the 10km.

JACK OSBORNE

7th 13 year old boy in Australia over 5km.  Jack has had such a brilliant year and apart from 6 events at age nationals to come in April he has been to Victorian States and KL all for the first time.  Jack is such a hard worker in training that he is pretty much able to do well in most things he swims from 100m free and back to 5km. Not sure if Jack is keen to ever swim 5km but who knows whats ahead.

Well done Caris Jen and Jack on a very successful end to your first major Open Water Season.

DON’T COUNT THE DAYS….MAKE THE DAYS COUNT

States and Nationals…here we come.

Peta’s Poem

Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400.

It carries over no balance from day to day.

Every evening deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day.

What would you do?  Read the rest of this entry »

WELCOME TO CARIS

You may have seen Caris Dempster around the pool deck at Riverton and we welcome her to Riverton Blue Marlins. Caris is one of my original swimmers in the good old BC Days and has achieved Age National Times for several years.  In addition Caris is an outstanding Open Water Swimmer and has achieved success in Distance swimming and Life Saving National events.

She is a committed trainer and gives 100% to everything she does.  Caris it is great to have you back around our pool deck.
